VIENNA - THE CITY OF WINE

Vienna and wine are inseparable. Vienna is the only world capital
producing significant quantities of wine within the city limits,
making wine cultivation one of its hallmarks. But it is more than
that - it is an economic factor, a defining element of the urban
image, a contribution to the urban economic system but also to
people's wellbeing - for both the Viennese and the guests to this
city.

ESL GAMES - THE BENEFITS OF GAMES IN YOUR ESL LESSON PLAN

By Kelvin
Nikkel
Teachers have turned to games now-a-days in order to try to
supplement their ESL classroom lesson plans. Their reason for doing
so is to add to the lesson in such a way as to benefit the students
more. The benefits are a more co-operative group dynamics and it has
been shown that the students actually retain the new material longer
and with better comprehension. How do these benefits make students
retain this new material longer and with better comprehension??

One of the most beautiful countries in Central Europe, Austria is
every bit a visitors paradise. It has everything - from icy Alps in
the West to the picturesque Danube Basin in the East. Austria has
been among the leading lights for the European unity and is largely
due to its efforts that the European Union, in the modern times, has

CULTURE SHOCK – A PERSONAL VIEW
| | Candy writes "
By Candy Fresacher
“Love conquers all” it is said, but is that really true
when love brings a Californian to Austria? After 30 years in
Vienna, it’s a question I still ask myself, especially in the
grey days of winter when “California Dreamin’” is
whirling around inside my brain and snow is whirling around outside
the house."

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY WAYS TO SEE VIENNA

From Vienna Tourist Board
Vienna can be experienced in a variety of ways – on foot, by
Citybike, on skates, or by boat. From the city center to the Donau
Auen National Park there are always new ways to see the city.
Exploring Vienna on foot is particularly enjoyable for a variety of
reasons, first and foremost because Vienna is a green city –
from the parks along the Ringstrasse boulevard to the green spaces of
the Augarten or the Prater. And if fatigue sets in, the nearest
subway, tram, or bus stop is never far away.

A WIENER SCHNITZEL IS A WIENER SCHNITZEL
|
BY Bernhard Baumgartner
I found a recipe today at on a recipe website for making Wiener
Schnitzel. Not that I wouldn`t know how to make it, but for certain
reasons I search the web for Austrian recipes quite often lately. So
I found that one mentioned above. It says Wiener Schnitzel
(Austrian), and so I studied it and realized, that nobody in Austria
eats Wiener Schnitzel with tomatoe-root purree, and certainly nobody
I know, would add parmesan to the breadcrumbs for coating the cutlet.
At least they use veal, which is actually obligatory to call it a
Wiener Schnitzel.

THE THIRD MAN: IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF A FILM CLASSIC

By Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Murray G. Hall
If one thinks of Vienna and music, one spontaneously thinks of the Blue Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss or else the Radetzky March by Johann Strauss the Elder. But Vienna is just as much associated with the Harry Lime Theme from the 1949 film classic "The Third Man". Brigitte Timmermann and Frederick Baker tell all about the making of the movie and the people involved - including the young Viennese musician who sparked off "zithermania" … in their book called "The Third Man. In the Footsteps of a film classic".

guess!). You’ve always wanted to work at home, and you’ve
thought about becoming a freelance proofreader. But just how do you
become a freelance proofreader who works at home?
