Shit On a Shingle, as the dish called 'dried chipped beef on toast' is also known. Don't know where it came from but I've got a sudden need to make and eat a kilo or two of this exquisite culinary specialty. Problem is finding the main ingredient. Has anyone seen real dried chipped beef anywhere? The semi-dry 'rinder rohschinken" is DEFINITELY not a reasonable substitute!! |

No, not yet. Very good idea with the extra-lean ground beef, though! Don't know why the thought never struck me whenever I've made some of my world famous hamburger gravey (lo-fat of course!). |
