I know audience figures might mean something to your stats, but it would be really really really nice and perhaps even prosperous if you made this forum a public one and not just a log-on-to-read one.

Almost EVERY successful forum I know is open - unless it is for safety reasons etc and I admit I find it a bit narrow to close it off, even for business purposes - or rather especially for biz purposes.

Please consider!

Thankyou!

Agreed, especially if we can work in some sort of self spam flagging feature. (I'm assuming reducing spam is the main reason for keeping the board private). Like a button we can press if we see spam. If 3 people press the "this is spam" button, the message is automatically deleted. That way we could get more participation on the board without the admins having spend a ton of time weeding out spammers.

Sorry, disagree - see no problem in having to register and login to use - I use other forums that require a "login" and these would also be classed as successful.

Sure there is no problem in having to log in in theory -- but it seems quite narrow really, forums are usually open forums and discussions unless it is for swingers clubs and the like. Moneysavingsexperts, Whirlpool, British Expats, Camping, Clubbing, Sporting -- hardly are closed secretive ones.

Also the more open it is, the more participation you can get. Guests often become users, that's how it works as lovelight points out.

I think if it's for the stats, it's a pretty poor deal and feels a bit .. directed. Plus, the Log out button is not evident (One has to go to 'Your account' and then press log out -- showing a disproportionate number of active users)

I respect the business, but anyway just wanted to put it out there and give feedback on how it kind of feels here.

No offence intended.

W.

What I don't really understand about the logging in, is that on some topics one doesn't need to log in and on others one does? I also agree that the logout area is a bit of a pain to find, but no big deal, could be easier though.

I think that anyone that wants to join would appreciate looking at the website and the posts as that way they can figure out if its the kind of place they want to join. I think many would agree that most forums are "open" to browse before joining, and if they are not open, then it actually makes me not want to join to be honest. Just my 2 cents.

I'm Crying! To everyone...
A friend of mine in Croatia looks after so many stray dogs and cats! Maybe someone reading would be interested in giving a pet a loving home!

Hello all,

Thank you for your feedback on these issues.

Am reworking the software and will make some changes. the login in to post will remain,I know of really no forums or feedback areas that let you post without being signed in for security and spam control.

Since the new sign up pretty much kills of the spammers, I will take another look at the view settings ASAP.

Again thanks for you feedback... Have a great rest of the day!

Thankyou Silvia -- and just to clarify I mean allowance to READ not write, as a guest.

Cheers.
