Does anyone know of any team sport leagues/clubs that are NOT SOCCER for kids in the 13 to 18 year age range? I really need to find something for my mouse- clicking, soccer-hating couch potato to do besides one-on-one hoops or fielding grounders with me.
Also wondering if their are any fitness trails (a course that can be run with exercise stations to stop and work out - pull-ups, situps, stretching, etc) to be found in this fine city. Danke, ya'll!! |

Hello Bubbles,
It is a challenge, but not impossible to find activities for the young ones. Here is a link (in German) that gives you several choices in the outside area of Vienna / Wiener Wald. If you need some translation help let me know. http://www.wienerwald.info
You have the Little League, Vikings Football links .... you might want to check with AIS (American Intern'l School) VIS (Vienna Intern'l School) and the UN/IAEA on Summer programs.
If you have a car or don't object to the OeBB, I have some kids sporting and experience sites that we took ours too.
Good luck...

Motion Kids offers American flag football-- also for teens.
They have programs all over Vienna. What I like is they concenrtrate on learning skills and having fun-- not an emphasis on winning, competition, etc.
Motionkids.at is the website. They also offer cheerleading and dance programs for girls (should someone search this topic and be looking for something for a girl.) Mr. Holub, the person who runs the program, speaks excellent English, in case that is an issue for either you or your child.
As for a kids' club at Manhattan-- perhaps the location in Wien 19 is different but at the South location the kids' club is the childcare, which I don't think Bubbles is looking for. I forget at what age a child can get a membership there. They do offer family hours where you can bring children to use the pool.
Also- I have no experience with it myself but I recently learned there is an indoor golf center in Wiener Neustadt, should golf be of interest to your child (not everyone likes team sports.) |
