Writers' Group

Hi everyone,
Sorry about the handle, I couldn't think of anything better for now. I have a question for you lovely VVers.

I used to write a lot when I was home, terrible poetry, less terrible short fiction, that sort of thing. The problem is that with time, and not-being-a-student-itis, its hard to find the motivation to write anything after work, especially when there is crap TV to be watched.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a writers' circle, or an ongoing workshop or something, where I could talk to other writers and maybe share writing and discuss books and writers' block. Unfortunately my horrible german (speaking of things that need motivation) makes it impossible for me to participate in a german writers' circle and contribute anything tangible.

And a related question: if there isn't anything like this around right now, would any of you be interested in starting one? I haven't really thought out a format or structure, but I would be up for pretty much anything.

I've been published a bit in different places, and still write freelance articles for newspapers and online magazines, but I remember when I used to write because it was fun, and I enjoyed it, and that's what I am looking to get back.

Thanks for replying, blueorange! It's great to know there might be something like this. I've had no luck with googling, though. I found a book group that sounded like fun, but no writers. So if you remember anything else that might make it easier to find, do let me know.

Google "ViennaLit". From there you will find a book group and probably a reference to a poetry reading group which meets the first Fri. (evening) of every month at Cafe Kafka. Go from there and let us know how it works out. I've often wished I could write.
