Many people coming to Vienna complain that the native population is unfriendly and unwelcoming, but we often forget this is often the same anywhere in the world even when moving to a new community in our home countries. They have no need to make new friends they have their own networks of family and friends in place already. We are the outsiders, so it is our job to build our own, and if we do make the effort we might be lucky enough not to only surround ourselves with friends and acquaintances from the International community but also from the Austrian community and at the same time fill our needs in other areas like employment.
