I am thinking of starting an online business and was wondering if I need to register it as a business here in Vienna. I am a resident and legally allowed to work. How do I pay taxes?
Any information would be great!
If your German is okay, try this:

The links in the left-hand column are particularly useful.
Guide for start ups from the Chamber of Commerce (Wirtschaftskammer):

I’m pretty sure you’ll need one or more business licenses (Gewerbeschein).
The Wirtschaftskammer will advise you for free about this, but try reading up on it first.
I’m seeing them next week about legal issues for an online service which I’m launching shortly (to check my terms and conditions, contracts, liability issues etc).
Good luck
😉
Be careful!
I got the Gewerbeschein only to find out I really did not need it. It depends what you do on the web.
Also be careful if you do this part time and have a full-time job because might just earn enough to get in a higher tax bracket and kill any profit.
Austria is not entrepreneur friendly and you can wind up in debt and not even earn a living.
But I wish you much luck!
